Most of the frenzies the Right Wing of the Republican party has been whipping itself into just bemuse me -- immigration reform, gay marriage, abortion, Intelligent Design. I think these are what they call the "culture wars" and they've already lost.

American Enterprise Institute just came out with a position paper that predicts anywhere between 100 million and 250 million legal immigrants under the proposed Republican immigration reform, and that's not going down very well.

Which supports my point, immigration reform isn't about safety and it's not about law, it's about "preserving" Anglo "culture" (read: percentage of population.)

That's what the whole Red State-Blue State thing is, anyway. Urban culture vs. rural culture.

JMHO. I'm suburban and purple.

When you ask "which direction do I want the country to go" I want smaller government, lower taxes, fewer government regulations. I want subsidiarity.

And I'd like to see some honest dialogue about whether or not we really need the Pax Americana (I think we do) and what we should do about it. Thomas PM Barnett is the guy I'd like to see President.

Failing him, maybe Rudy Giuliani. Or McCain but he's shooting himself in the foot again.
