Well, yeah, if they have a majority then screw the minority.

But only when it comes to binary choices, with no middle ground.

Binary = death penalty vs. no death penalty. War vs. no war. No middle ground.

But most choices have middle grounds. What percentage of cars should meet the CAFE standards and what should the CAFE standards be? How much sulfur should be scrubbed from the power plant emissions? How many years before you can become a citizen?
