Could it be we are headed to an October bottom?

Sure that would fit 4 year market cycle norms. If it happens it will most likely marked by huge spikes in volatility, more bear than bulls in the Investors Intelligence Poll and a lot of positive technical divergences even as the market hits new lows.

So regardless of ALGO, or what analysts and talking heads say on TV, I'm glad to still be mostly in cash.

I know I have heard all the arguments. It's simply just too easy to think that if SOX hit long term important bottoms in October 1998 and October 2002 that it might be possible that it could happen again in 2006.

But it could...

So what I do hope is that if sentiment really is horribly negative 5 months from now that we can all profit from the buying opportunity.

The market over does it going both ways. Just like the FED. And maybe most of the blame belongs with the FED.

Of course I could have bought AMD and sold INTC short before DELL's report tonight but I didn't. If I was that good a trader I wouldn't need cyclical stock market bottoms.
