Why does everyone assume this is *just* 4S? The earnings statement said:

# In the enterprise, we will launch new ninth generation servers featuring Intel's Woodcrest microprocessors. Dell will also introduce new AMD Opteron processors in our multi-processor servers by the end of the year offering a great new technology to our customers at the high-end of our server line.

DELL's "high-end" servers are 2S now. No reason the Opteron systems will not also include 2S. And possibly even 8S! WHY NOT? On CNBC, Rollins said they were going after new markets with the Opteron servers. 8S would be perfect.

BUT HERE'S THE REAL BIGGY: How dome Intel did not promise Woodcrest in Q2? Read what it says about Woody again:

# Dell will end the year with the broadest and highest quality product line in its history, including a new generation of servers, and new storage products, desktop and notebook computers, and printers.
# In the enterprise, we will launch new ninth generation servers featuring Intel's Woodcrest microprocessors. Dell will also introduce new AMD Opteron...

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PROMISE OF WOODCREST or CONROE juntil the end of the year. Merom is not promised until "fall." That is generally considered to be SEPTEMBER:

# On the client side, our focus on the XPS brand and acquisition of Alienware signals a renewed vigor around product design and quality for desktops and notebooks. In mobility, we will enhance our line this fall with Intel's new energy-efficient Merom processor. And, we will have Intel's Conroe in our desktops and workstations later this year.

LATER THIS YEAR does NOT sound like NEXT QUARTER to me, does it to you?

In fact, Intel used the same timeframe for WOODCREST that they used for OPTERON -- "END OF THE YEAR."
