Read what Ho said... and (while you're at it) read a bit WIDER in history sometime! (Include the American military strategists, as well as the diplomatic archives from the Soviets and the Chinese, too....)

There is NO WAY the Vietnamese were going to give up on nationalism, and although we might have been able to drag out the denoument some little while further (had we been willing to continue to pay the great cost in blood and national treasure), that's all it would have amounted to: a delay.

Join the real world.

And, stop thinking that civilization is a stopped clock! Life moves on. We have a FAR BETTER opportunity to inculcate Capitalist and Western Democratic values into South East Asia NOW... then we *ever had* while attempting to act as Hegemon after picking up the tarnished 'whip hand' dropped by the French Colonialists.

Keep your eyes on the PRIZE (not on some ill-considered, alternate universe....)
