Footnote to my previous post: Nevertheless, the contact was signed on 31st October by Mr Jean-Marie Happart, Walloon socialist politician, who was representing a non profit organisation set up by the Walloon government. In his defence Mr Happart claims not to have read some of the contract as it was written in English. Daerden's memo is an embarrassment to all the members of the former Walloon government. Each of them, including Daerden, had earlier told journalist that they had no knowledge of the detrimental clause contained in the contract.
