But cache should not be much of a concern. Intel has been making 2MB L2 cache Dothans for two years and 2MB Pentium 6xx series for over a year now. The Smithfield Pentium D 805 with a total of 2MB L2 cache is selling for under $130 at newegg.com.

All of the low end Intel Conroes and Meroms have 2MB L2 cache and that is where the majority of sales will be. Moving to 4MB of cache on the high-end should be a no-brainer by now. Die size isn't a concern either because Conroe and Merom with 4MB L2 cache should be no bigger, and probably a bit smaller, than AMD's upcoming 2x512KB rev. F CPUs.
