The NetPC and NC are two completely different beasts. IBM just dropped their proposed NetPC (I've seen it). My thoughts are that the NetPC market is dead. let me also say that we tried COJ on our IBM NC in the office, and although the software ran, it was a dog.

COJ has no home on the NetPC. It only makes sense for the NC. The reason is that the NetPC runs all MSFT software natively, while the NC requires either Java code, or something like Citrix and a remote server. Even though NCs and NetPCs are very different, it is unfortunate that this word isn't getting out, and the uninformed press is garbling their differences.

In order for COJ to become a hit, I feel we are going to have to wait for Java-on-a-chip. otherwise, it is just too slow, for anything but simple letter writing, or small spreadsheet analysis. Users can run word processing, spreadsheets, and other office automation today on NCs by using any of the x-windows or character-based products out there. Java isn't required. Several vendors including HP/IBM have NCs with X-windows native.

I am not a COSFF stock holder now, and really see the company going the way of NOVL, at least for the next 6 months. I am putting my money elsewhere, but will occasionally lurk on this group every few weeks.
