Resonable opinion, but what many people are seem to miss imho
is that the ONLY reason why DELL was Intel only is because
of given Monopol. Contracts. It was implicit stated by DELL
itself, that if they had added AMD, the costs with Intel would
go up, so NET would be best neutral or even negative. So when
you start from this point it was reasonable for DELL to stay
at Intel, when products aren't a big problem comp.wise.
So when you ask me it really doesn't matter for huge SKU
amounts - business designs, whether the speed is 5-10% higher
or lower. Thats not the point, so what happened in the end?
The OEM stayed with Intel because all the contracts were in
place and Intel did ALL to update this year by year. We have
seen in the last years at AMD, how hard it is to crack this
position with oustanding products. So I advice EVERYONE to
think about the given DELL implication. I have written nearly
the same lines at WO:AMD. Its imho a turning or cross-over
point. Nearly all Intel only OEM seem to loose Marketshare in
all segments and the ones with AMD gain - its that easy. Be-
cause AMD filled and action are now in place, I assume, that
many CEOs are thinking further, whether they could stay 100%
Intel. Its that easy. So I expect even more NEW things to
come in the notebook space at the japanese OEMs, more in
Business Desktop and much more in the Serverspace, where some
people get now really headache. You will see new designs
flowing in, late, but better start now ... just to think, that
Intel could instantly stop this HUGE WAVE is laughable. They
will constantly loose share. Bookmark this.
