Of course sleep architecture is a critical aspect of sleep. I would like to see the scientific underpinnings of your statement:

I refer to my earlier comment on this board about Steven Wright's quote about statistics.

Concerning sleep architecture, there is extensive discussion in the literature regarding religious visions, alien sightings and other " hallucinogenic events" that accompany REM sleep. This neurobiology cannot be accessed in rodents, thus human studies are needed. To what extent do you or other readers of this fine board expect to see an increase in such "hallucinogenic events" for drugs that increase REM sleep?

Of relevance here is the extensive literature on Parkinsonian sleep events, narcoleptic events, and other situations of sleep paralysis.
