Just because P4 can beat Athlon 64 in a few benchmarks doesn't mean P4 is viewed as an equal or a close competitor to Athlon 64 in terms of performance.

Well said. AMD should forget about the 4MB Conroes with their sub 3 GHz 90nm K8s and go after the bulk of Intel's range, P-Ds, aggressively with severe price cuts. They could do some damage there ;-).
