Sort of. The P4 was a successful product at launch. The buyers at that time accepted Intel's smoke and mirrors. There is quite a population of consumers that got educated. AMD has a strong bond with consumers.

I'd bet that Conro is comparable in real world situations. With the large cache, the die is bigger? Who knows about the bigger picture, yields, etc.

Take a step back, AMD was Pinochio, a wooden boy. Not any more. The industry has partnered up to AMD, while Intel was busy trying to set standards to coerce and extend their monopoly. Times change.
