Oops! Hopefully, there'll be a good solution in the near future, especially if there are enough people who need to run OS 9 on their Macintels. Thanks for the info, tho. If you crack this nut, please post :-)

Emulation/virtualization is great when it works and there are advantages, but sometimes, the answer is easier than that. Anyone who really needs to run OS 9 should consider simpler solutions such as going to ebay and buying an old system. For US $54.99 (buy it now) or less, cgi.ebay.com this is a cheap solution, though you'd want to consider reuse or buying local to save on shipping, and add some RAM. Yeah, it takes up space, but unless you really have to interface with the future, for the same ballpark cost of software, you get a 100% compatible solution. You can use VNC (http://www.redstonesoftware.com/vnc.html#OS9vnc) if you need to run in a window on your Macintel. If this works for you, a headless unit will take less space (KBD switch may also help).

When considering solutions, be sure you're not attempting Goldberg Machine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg) solutions. I recall someone trying emulating multiple operating systems inside multiple layers of emulations, simply to run a DOS program in the end, mainly to prove a point that it could be done, but it would be sad if that were truly required by someone.
