In 1805, The Corps of Discovery had their latrine here, exactly 300 feet from the cook fires. The latrine was confirmed by the presence of mercury in the soil. The mercury came from Dr. Rush's Thunderclappers.

The cook fires were near the tree in the center of the picture, some distance from the foreground.
