| Well as a world where a top-of-the-line portable computer costs about USD2500, where it used to cost USD 8-15000. My first laptop (by the standards of the day) cost about USD8000, and featured 512KB RAM, two 3.5" floppies, a 16 bit CPU with an 8 bit bus, a (monochrome) plasma screen, and no battery operation at all. No hard drive, no modem, no battery operation, no Ethernet, no color, no motion sensors, no GPU, no nothing! Looking back it reminds me more of carving runes in slabs of stone than actual computing. |
