JR KARY, its actually Doren's post I first saw

techstocks.com

`The scuttlebutt is that Rhapsody is a very fast OS. A large improvement.'

Your own post is more measured. All I wanted is a URL to
a benchmark test or report comfirming this since it defies
all logic and the first rule of investing is to know the facts.
ALL I've seen so far is that Rhapsody on a fast machine will
run OK. I claim it will still be slower than more stupid
OS/s on the SAME machine and thats what a benchmark would
establish. I checked Mayos links too and they dont give this
either (I'm not talking about windows in Rhapsody on intel...).

I'm interested in `sluggishness' like how long between clicking
an applicaition and it opening up, boot up times, relogin time,
screen writing (which is slower in postscript) etc. Never mind,
I'll just do my own research.

FWIW, I think P266 intel or things like the UMAX machine
which is 11 times faster than an old powermac will be fine
with Rhapsody, i.e. people buying new computers next year
will not complain about slugishness. But its a concern for older
or cheaper models. I dont mean Bill Jacksons 486. I think
P150 will be a bit sluggish. How do I know? Thats my computer
with 64K ram. Its not just CPU speeds by the way, the other
benchmarks like hard disk access are even more crucial. I have
SCSI but many intel boxes are slower EIDE. This all adds up
to a correct marketing strategy for APPL going after both
intel and professional Mac markets without conflict. I think
this is Jobs' insight. By the way, about the dream email
and Object oriented protocols ... I think this is all
part of Jobs' vision and he won my respect for it years ago.
You guys IMO underestimate his genius and `vision'.

Good luck, all
