Ah kind sir, now about this 100 point premise....

Gold bugs got lazy and got greedy here of late... and they got their 3rd near 100 Point HUI Index shakeout.

Are all 100 point shakeouts equal?

After all it seems as though the 100 point shake out from the 260 to 160 range is a 38% hit, while the drop from 401 to 307 is a 23% hit. Which would you rather have your portfolio take? <g> It also would seem that as the HUI increases in value the significance of a 100 point shakeout becomes less. But let's not let a mere 15% come between friends!

Certainly one needs to define their trading time frame. For the LT B&H'ers such a strategy still has them at decent returns versus historical averages [HUI = 165 to HUI = 322, May '05 to May '06]. For the IT/ST time frame one would hope that they had the sense to sell as prices crossed the 20 to 30 dmas and re-enter after the trend turns up again.
