I really thought there would be more bears in Germany than that. Thanks for the link.

I once knew a German forester. One of his jobs was to go out and kill red deer to keep populations in check. Evidently they don't have legal sport hunting. You would think that bears would naturally occupy the many forests that they have in Germany.

I chuckled when I saw the following, which reminds us that there is a downside to everything:
