Psychology investigates how the mind works and sociology investigates how societies work. They explain what they learn to the best of their abilities. Having one of my degrees in experimental psychology, I will say I felt the largest mistake psychology made when I was going to school was not treating the human species exactly like every other animal. I was taught we did not have instincts, we had drives. We knew more about the mating habits of the Ukanda Kob than we did about ourselves. Once we accept the fact, we are a naturally evolving animal like all other animals, then we may come to understand ourselves as we really are.
