I read the book several years ago, before all the hype. It was a page turner for me. I saw it as fiction then, and it's still fiction.

The movie is no different.

My advice is to read the book first. I've never felt motivated to read a book after seeing a movie of it first. Come to think of it, I can't remember a time when I've ever done that.

Movies put flesh on a book, helping me to visualize the characters and scenes that I read about. My favorite example is "Lonesome Dove," one of the best movies ever made. It's based on a novel of the same name. To me, every time I reread the novel I see the characters in the movie.
