Each of us must make our own decisions on timing buys and sells. I tend to trade a lot on the way up but that's because I try to get into overweight positions where I feel the stock is ready to deliver good returns. For the most part, I'll remove a position once the stock reaches my target.

Trading around a core position is what works best for me. So, in general, I tend to take profits in smaller steps and then carefully decide whether or not to rebuild on excessive weakness.
