Ah, "the messianic gleam."

Well, how would you identify it? What would distinguish it from other "gleams"? The "I care about this issue" gleam? Or the "I think this is terribly important" gleam? Or the "vote for me because I desparately need your vote" gleam?

In Gore's case, we are clearly dealing with someone who thinks global warming is a very big deal and makes it one of the centerpieces of his life.

Perhaps Heilemann thinks that's "messianic." Who knows? He offered no evidence; just dropped the observation out there so we could debate it. Definitely not a helpful throwaway line.
