Ted, While I can't find specific figures, this study suggests that the US spends more than 3rd world countries but less than some developed nations.

I don't get it. The CNN article says that America is #1 in education spending.

I had seen the report before.......it came out in 2003. At some point I saw a chart then went with it. The article from CNN is misleading. The US is not the biggest spenders.....the chart showed some countries that spent more per pupil. Here's some wording from that report that makes that point somewhat clearer:

"A new report by the the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) at the U.S. Department of Education shows that the United States is one of the world's biggest spenders in public education, yet achievement levels in the U.S. lag far behind those of many other industrialized nations."

Having said that, we do spend a lot of money on education........I just don't know where it goes. I think school administrators stink when it comes to handling money.

Did you? I didn't.

My parents wanted me to get straight A's every single semester. Never was satisfied with anything less; I could get all A's and one B, and that B would be considered a shame on the family.

Did you ever see the movie the Joy Luck Club? I think I've asked you before but I can't remember your response........your comments above remind me of that movie.

It drove me up the wall, but you know what? I'll probably be the same way toward my kids. This is one of the FEW ways I want to be like my parents when I have kids.

I meant the junk food.......parents tell you not to eat junk food but what kid listens? Did you? ;-)
