It is always hard to solve a problem by concentrating on the wrong area. Seems to me, if we really wanted to stop this problem, we'd confiscate the property of folks who hire illegals. There's far fewer of them, and they are easier to penalize. Make the employers pay for hiring them, and make them pay through the nose, and I would think jobs would dry up right away. Makes more sense than confiscating people's property over drugs- since at least there is a good public health argument and a national security argument that can be made for not having illegal aliens in the country. Seems to me that a confiscatory punitive policy would raise money to fund the program - judging by how profitable the drug confiscations have been.
