Never underestimate people's ability to hold two contradictory positions if it serves their need for emotional gratification (successful business but still "tough on defending America"). I can't think of any government program in a long time that has successfully and profoundly changed the actions of 12 million people at once. You can tweak the tax codes or something like that, but that's the not the same as changing the living and working status of 12 million people at once. Whatever happens with the fence, some scheme to regularize the illegals already here is inevitable. And if not, we will do little or nothing effective and they will continue to live and work here illegally. I don't see any actual force that can change that. Lots of rhetoric but no feasible action plan.
