The best compression type for graphics without gradients for the web is (generally) the gif format.

A gradient is a gradual transition from one color to another and is seen in photographs mostly.

Since graphs of this type are SOLID colors - gifs will be the best format in almost all cases.

This image is a gif that weighs in at 13k or so. The smallest jpeg weighs in at 19k and won't look as good.

By the way I'm learning along with others thanks to your occasional graphs. Thank you.
