Some Republicans agree with you. I think they have visions of the FBI rading their Congressional offices if the Dems win the Presidency and get control of the FBI. I don't have a problem with it in this case. Allegedly, Jefferson accepted marked money in a videotaped sting - evidence doesn't get much more conclusive. Public officials that take bribes are the lowest form of criminal to me. Special "enhanced" sentencing should be drafted, just for them. You do have to wonder if the FBI is pursuing the vastly greater number of crooked Republicans with equal vigor though.
