No really, the guidebooks are supposedly written so someone with an 8th grade reading ability can understand. That may be true for any individual sentence, but as a whole they are simply incomprehensible. No two accountants come up with identical returns in tests that I've read about, involving many accountants on the same facts.

How's your dentist supposed to know that the guy who trimmed his shrubs didn't collect sales tax? And why isn't the Dept. of Revenue going after that guy instead of the dentist?

It's absurd.
