The resident devil's advocate suggests that we do not want to be in the business of hosting images when we don't have control over their source. That's why most ISPs provide web space for their clients, and they deal with the legal paperwork for sites illegally hosting copyrighted images. They are subject to a different set of rules than the message boards.

Then you have the issues of the giant sucking sound on the network from the images being pulled from our domain, leaching (hotlinking) by non-members... and I'm sure several other undesirable side-effects.

If we implement it there will have to be a tight accountability to the person providing the image because you can bet your Harley some infringed parties will come a-calling for compensation.
