You raised the issue of oxygen in our atmosphere now as a reason.

I raised the issue of oxygen as a difference.
You can't expect the processes from which life began to duplicate themselves in a vastly different environment. The earth now has a vastly different environment from when life first appeared. (What's all the more interesting is that it is lifeforms that changed the oxygen environment)

I allow for a distinction between life, and life as we know it. There could be reproducing and evolving processes elsewhere which don't follow the same chemistry as life on our planet.
