>> Intel says not considering IPO for chip business

I don't know the capacity of Intel's NAND facilities, however, flash NAND for instant boot could consume all of it and more.

I expect that putting the hibernate and boot files on flash on the main board is by far more cost efficient and implementable than the Samsung One-NAND proposal. Also, since Intel makes the whole platform, they don't need to wait for microsoft, or HDD makers to implemet their part. It can be implemented in the mother-board BIOS.

The contest between Intel and AMD is now transforming into a wider contest between integrated platform, and the AMD partnership model. There are times when the non-integrated model works, but this is not one of them. AMD had an accidental success, which they are trying to transform into a systematic process. But it is hard to hit the lottery systematically. Rapid technology change, coupled with cost inflation overwhelmingly favor the integrated model.
