I have a long time gripe with a national book club I sometimes buy from. These are books dealing in painting instruction and are not readily available elsewhere.

I live in Colorado, the book company in based in Ohio and the books are shipped from New York. They insist on charging me Colorado state sales tax. I refused to pay it, several times. They threatened to ruin my excellent credit rating. All this for a few dollars.

Not wanting a blot on my credit rating, I reluctantly paid. I'm still a few bucks ahead, though, as they pay shipping when I put the cost on my Visa. Shipping is usually more than the tax. Books are heavy and costly to ship.
