Hard to give. Many of his contemporary science fiction authors developed a dislike for Dianetics. One of them claims to've heard Hubbard issue that phrase a couple of years before Campbell publicised "Dianetics" in Astounding. Given that no one cared about science fiction much in those days, such quotes are only going to exist as personal recollections. My particular reference was from the introduction of a book that I have around here somewhere. FWIW, Campbell was himself a follower of Scientology as were a few other authors of the time.

I've never knowingly met a Scientologist, so I can't pass on how they are as people. Given where you live, your experiences are obviously different.
