You're right. How do we know how much of present warming is due to us putting more co2 in the atmosphere vs a normal swing (like the medieval warm period) which would have happened regardless of our fossil fuel burning?

Thats why you do detailed science, and the scientists are saying it is largely the result of human activity. When the bulk of scientist agree that the data is conclusive, you should accept that.

The question for you is, what metric will you use to decide that the information is conclusive? 100% of the people will never be convinced. Think about evolution and what an astonishingly high number of Americans don't believe it. That gives you some clue to the ease with which many people dismiss scientific evidence. There is no convincing that crowd, because they have beliefs that are incompatible with reality. Rush Limbaugh is not going to convert to a Green anytime soon, so if that is your metric, I understand. But then state it at least.

Nadine earlier made a comment about first we need to understand the science of global warming and how to correct things before we do anything. It was a good comment except for one point. The tense. It has already been done. We know enough of both the science and the solutions to get started. Her real problem, and I suspect yours as well, is that you don't accept the science, and you would rather the solutions be cheaper. The real world does not just give you what you want. My question to you and Nadine is: How will you know when we have the answer? How will you know when the science is good enough? How will you determine if the solution is cheap enough for your tastes?
