There have been five official Arab Israeli wars, and several more lessor ones. These were Arab - Israeli, not Palestinian - Israeli, wars, as in Israel fighting the armies of Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, with some Saudi Arabian troops thrown in for good measure. When the Arabs gave up on conventional wars, they used the PLO as a proxy force, as Iran did for Hizbullah.
Yet we are not to lift our eyes from the West Bank and Gaza, to notice who is fanning the flames, who is running the guns and who is giving the orders. Oh no.
