And the military of Iran is definitely a peer to Israel - Iran is a big country, large land mass and 75 million people, half of them under 25.

Get real Nadine. Israel could take down Iran just as quickly as the USA took down Iraq. The problem would be what to do afterwards.

Iran's armed forces are not sufficiently modern to deal with an electronic airforce like the USA's or Israel's.

It was much closer to a fair fight in '67 when the technology on each side was more on par, and Israel had to call on better strategic thinking and no holds barred determination to survive.

It is possible that Iran, with perhaps Russian air defenses, might get back to a point of being safe from conventional assault, but it will still not pose a conventional invasion threat to Israel. If they get nukes, then its back to the MAD business, so again, not much problem.
