Very small cars, less packaged, processed foods, buy local (less fuel in the transport), work closer to home, ride a bike if possible, keep the heat way down in the winter, and don't use much air conditioning in the summer -should go for business as well as residential. That's a start- there's a lot more we could do, but if people just made a start, it would be something. I'm not convinced most people care enough to even make a start- but there are plenty of books out there to give you suggestions on how to live more sustainably (and how to use a lot less fuel either personally, or through your consumption patterns.)

There are plenty more. For anyone who is really interested in the topic, I suggest you invest in one book- or bike over to your local library, and check one out.
