The phrase "assess whether it is worth the risk to state a negative opinion," implies that there is some risk in stating a negative opinion. Which is what the Robt. Winn, and you, and other shorts, have been implying. My point is that it has not been established that "stating a negative opinion" entails any risk at all. Dozens of people, maybe hundreds, have expressed
hundreds of thousands of negative opinions on the internet about Presstek. But very few of those individuals, and so far only one who has ever posted on this thread, have been accused of perpetrating defamation, that is, telling lies designed to manipulate the stock price to the detriment of Presstek shareholders. And of that single individual's many, many "negative statements" here, how many have been cited by Presstek as libelous? A hundred? Fifty? A dozen? Five? Three? I suspect it's much closer to the last number than the first. Do you know the specific statements posted here that Presstek is objecting to? If you do, do you think they were just "negative opinions"? I would be interested to see the statements myself, so if you have in fact concluded that they were fair comment, mere expressions of "negative opinion," on the basis of your familiarity with the statements, I'd appreciate your posting them.

Ivan once said on this forum, "All's fair in love, war and Presstek." Well, no, "all" wasn't fair. It was only that in this forum "all" could be done with impunity(to say nothing of braggadocio! ) And why not? It was the wild west, a new frontier where the laws of libel and slander that apply if you talk on the radio, write to a newspaper, write a book, stand on a soap box, or fly a banner from the tail of your plane, weren't being applied, because there was no Marshal in Cybertown. Larry, if you don't think that all is fair in love, war and Presstek, and if you conduct yourself just as if you were expressing your opinions in every other forum in existence, what is your problem? I really suggest that before you cease expressing your negative opinions (here and everywhere else) you check out what specific statements are at issue here. Maybe you'll feel they are, in fact, libelous.
