>>>It's every man for himself with capital controls looming.<<<

I earlier posted on the real estate crash board, part of a discussion in Barrons pertaining to gold going to $8,000 - yes I typed that correctly. I referenced it here because of a citation of Matt Simmons and the interaction of printing too much $$$$, gold, the sunset of the greenback as the world currency and crude.

The author made several references to "capital controls." Capital controls are a new one on me. The author cited the congress' blockage of purchase by China of Unocal as an example of capital control.

What are capital controls, please???

Are we harking back to Nixon with price controls???

Will the government be telling me I can only buy so many shares of CHK???

I think buying the Australian firm, Woodside Petroleum, is a great idea, because it is a well run NG play, and you also get to expatriate $$$$ as the dollar continues to fall against other currencies. As part of "capital controls," will the government not allow me to buy Woodside or potentially mandate that I sell if I already have a position???
