There won't be any meaningful polls until after people know who's running. for instance, Hillary may not run. Gore may not. Guliani may not. So nobody knows. Dark horses can come in out of left field too and capture peoples' imagination. Who were Edwards and Dean before 2003? Nobody had even heard of them before. Who was Clinton? A nobody to the general public.
And the one with the most money or name recognition doesn't necessary do well either. That's why they call it a race, and the race is not even close to beginning.
