"It was clear that Kerry did not have the vet vote. They saw him as an opportunist and not a real hero." It is beyond me why he was ever trying to make himself out to be a war hero in an unpopular war. What was he thinking? But, aside from that, he lost me when he went to the podium at the convention and gave one of the most sorry excuses for a salute that I have ever seen an ex military man give. He'd either forgotten how or didn't have his heart in it...or both.
