Rising energy costs are already visible in the weakening of certain sectors of the economy. >

We are seeing confirmation of this in recent WMT,

YUM (is getting in a car to go get fast food rational behavior now?)
biz.yahoo.com
and WSM sales.

I am really curious though about gasoline demand in the next two reporting weeks (May 21-June 3) covering Memorial day weekend. It looks a little tired coming into it, but could it actually break or roll over? Would be an important economic canary in the mineshaft if so. People are slow to change their behavior though, may take a hurricane related spike. Look at how much is being imported to keep supply even low.
