They are finding it tough to compete among the emerging markets such as S. Korea (a rather "matured" emerging market), China, Malaysia, Indonesia and India.

If the African nations can ever get real governments that open up free trade and investment, then the Asian bloc will be facing stiff competition. I project that happening around 2050 to 2060.
