Kerry was absolutely correct in 1971. That war was total non-sensical madness by 1971 and Nixon was dragging his feet about ending it. Every week Nixon delayed another hundred US troops were dying and all sorts of terrible stuff was happening over there. The frustration level was so high and Nixon's people were bordering Vietnam bombed into the stone age. Some say over two million Vietnamese were killed. Along with 55,000 Americans. The CIA's Phoenix Program killed 20,000 alone, some of those atrocious murders our Spec Ops were ordered to carry out. No wonder it all went mad.

And all for what? Nothing. We had no good reason for being there in the first place. It was a senseless war. But amidst the senselessness there were many combat heros, including Kerry. "Blessed are the peacemakers", said Christ. And he was right.
