Let's bring this thread back to life!
And make some easy $$$!

Re: dividend capture

Does anyone know much about stock dividend capture? That is, buy just before the ex-div date, getting the div, then selling the stock afterwards. I assumed that the price would adjust according to the amt of the div on that day, but this isn't nec so. Seems like a way to make a quick few % points, especially with 5-10% stock
dividends.

I looked back at the stock prices of several co's that pay 5-15% stock dividends every year and their price didn't change much at the ex-div date. Maybe the price was adjusted so as to not show it, like a split. I don't own many div stocks, but the ones I have, I haven't noticed a price drop on their ex-div dates. I'm researching this idea, soI'd appreciate any help from anybody else out there who can explain div capture.

thanks,
Vol
