Did you read the article in yesterday's Washington Post about the North Arlington couple who are puting photovoltaic panels on their house? I was surprised that only 100 households in the DC metro area, including Virginia and Maryland, have done so to the extent of getting connected to the power grid. washingtonpost.com If you connect to the grid, you can run your meter backwards when you're generating excess power, which can help with utility bills. It's still not cost-effective, though, people won't do it without tax subsidies.
