Not to nitpick, but Joshua, Moses' protege, was not related to him but was of a different tribe, Ephraim.
Believe when I say unto you that Moses & Joshua were very much "brothers" in their mindset and same weave of cloth ;)....in what follows their escapades which are as bloody as can be found anywhere . One thing we all know is universally true down thru history is that one mans liberation is another's oppression destruction or enslavement . I think it were fair after a few thousand years to refer to them as "brothers"....
Later we find the early Christian sects attacked each other as fondly & fiercely as they attacked pagans...or as Joshua before with "God & Faith" raged & destroyed Jericho . There is a distinct pattern it seems in the milieu of human "religiosity" & matters of belief , perhaps a significant yearning for some utopian eternal peace is sought for in the next world thru "savior" , would affect & appeal so deeply humans even till today , with what has always been marred as impossible between the tribes of men here on Earth .
Yet religion itself and its splintered sectarianism somehow always remains the culprit , creating divisions where there are really none , at least modern science & biology ....even modern Darwinism points to this finally at last . As I mentioned before the Stoics of Greece had been teaching brotherly love , individual restraint and compassion already so these deepening advanced systems of thoughts & ideas were not original to the minds of men or unique to the zealouts of the "Holy Land". Which I might add were not peaceful folk usually at all , but great persecuters themselves .
Yet this is only the beginning ....just look around you today.
