>>What world leaders most urgently need to know today about global warming is not what computer models say the temperature will be, say, in Paraguay in 2063 or any similar conjecture. Rather, they need to know if a program of mandatory greenhouse gas reduction via market-based trading will work without harming the global economy. If the answer is “yes,” then an artificial greenhouse effect is not destiny.<<

Thanks for the link. Interesting paper. But of course I want more detail.

He describes and approach and he does it cheerfully from the perspective that all previous environmental problems were fixed more easily than expected so this one will, too, so let's get started. Hmmmmm. Is that really so different from the notion that if we all just combine trips and get rid of our incandescent light bulbs, all will be well? It's better in that the gains could be made in bigger chunks, but the notion is the same.

I'd like to see a neat chart of how much we're warming the planet now, what amount of reduction will be needed to stabilize us, and what combination of technological gains might actually produce that outcome.
