Thanks for your reference to Epictetus. Is he still dead?

The premise of resting the fulcrum of belief on whether one is risen or not to me is mute . All men deal with death as a finality or as some passing on to fathom more "in spirit" which is to each man or woman according his chosen pov & life expererience . If you wish to devote yourself to the moral conducts of restraint , good deeds , joyous giving & compassion to your fellow man feeling imbued with the spirit of one said teacher 2000yrs ago , so be it . The point i was attempting to show you was that these teachings were not "new", yet you can attach the special caveat of "eternal life " if it so pleases your own pov remembering the sources of such ideas and their origination .

But as far as checking the latest philosophy curriculums in any major university on the civilized earth , the life of the thoughts & ideas of Epictetus & Zeno are still very much alive , as well as the love of current teachers themselves in various disciplines that inspired the lives of many students & changed them into better people forever functioning well in society thru all kinds of capacities and life studies .

I know one professor who died recently that recieved a gift of $1mil anonymously while he lived and many institutions of higher learning recive such "tithes" if you will often . Many of the great leaders in Industry , the Military & in civic life appropriate the teachings of the Stoics in their daily life to much success quite often still today as did many great men & women all thru history.
