Now, Elroy, be fair. Kerry's military record matters ONLY in how it compares the the military record of the chimp Caesar.

The chimp Caesar served in the Texas Air National Guard, having jumped over hundreds of people trying to avoid the draft and Vietnam, using this route only through the "fix" provided by his family connections. At the time, the Guard was a way to avoid Vietnam without having to bug out to Canada or go to jail, unlike NOW. (Guard were referred to as "NoGo's" by regular soldiers at the time ) Bush even checked on his enlistment form that he DIDN'T want to serve overseas.

Even IN a "Champaign Unit" created for the scions of the wealthy and connected in the Guard, Bush was a f*ck-up. He had to use his connections AGAIN to get an early discharge, despite not meeting his Guard obligations. Piece of cake for the son of a Senator from Texas. Ordinary people who didn't meet their Guard obligations got drafted into the regular military and sent to Vietnam.

Kerry may have exaggerated his Vietnam accomplishments somewhat, but he was THERE, actually risking death - while Bush was "serving" at his local bar.
